We have all heard “fake it till you make it,” and while it may be annoying to hear, it’s true. 

Optimism isn’t just good for a mood boost, it also improves heart health and boosts the immune system. 

Being aware and actively trying to be optimistic in order to feel happier actually makes it more effective.

Optimism is linked to overall better health and a longer lifespan.

The US Army teaches soldiers optimism in order to create “mental toughness.” The Army teaches us to think of things as temporary setbacks that are changeable. Soldiers should think that things will go away quickly and that they can do something to fix it.


Overconfidence can actually increase your ability to complete a task. Being overconfident can increase productivity and improve teamwork. 

Try adding a little optimism and confidence to your routine, whether it be telling yourself you can run a bit farther or setting a goal for work.
