What to do if your Carpet is Saturated

1/18/2021 (Permalink)

When water enters your home it is important to follow CDC recommended guidelines when reentering your home. After assessing the damage, be sure to call SERVPRO of South Mecklenburg County to make it "Like it never even happened."

If your home has experienced water damage from a clean water source such as a tub overflow or a cracked pipe, our team will start by extracting water from the carpet. It is never a good idea to wait for the carpet to dry naturally, even in the best-ventilated areas. Our technicians will use light wands and rovers (weighted extractors) that help us pull out as much of the moisture as possible. Instead of pulling up carpeting, we do whatever possible to use in-place drying methods.

If you have experienced a category two or three water loss, then the situation will have to be assessed before drying begins. Oftentimes with these types of water loss all porous surfaces, including carpet, need to be removed and replaced due to potentially hazardous substances.

If you have experienced a water loss and now have wet carpets, call SERVPRO of South Mecklenburg County so we can get your home and carpets back to preloss conditions.
