The Cost Of Water Damage

3/30/2021 (Permalink)

After a flood in your home, you should call your local water restoration company to assess the damage. When you call SERVPRO there are multiple factors that affect the quote you will receive. Whether the water came from a pipe or a river, water has permeated the walls and floors and any number of things can drastically change the restoration process and cost.

The cost of restoration is based on two factors, cleanup and structural repairs. The cleanup is where SERVPRO comes in. Our team comes in to remove the water and repair any damage that was caused by the water. Once our experienced technicians have removed the water and dried the area it is time to call in a repair team. Often, the repairs drive the cost up more than the restoration.

During the average water damage incident, the cost of restoration is between $1,100 and $4,500. This average does not apply to extreme cases which can be much more expensive than this range. Depending on your insurance, you may only need to cover the deductible.

The cost of water damage can vary greatly depending on the square footage of your home. In general, the cost per square foot is between $3.75 and $7.00. The cost per square foot is heavily based on the type of water that flooded your home. If the flood is caused by category 1 water the price will likely be on the lower end of the spectrum. If the culprit is category 2 water you can expect something closer to $4.50 per square foot. For category 3 water the price will be closer to $7.00 per square foot.

Every situation is different and prices can vary depending on many factors. The prices above are national averages and only SERVPRO of South Mecklenburg County can tell you exactly how much the restoration process will be.
