What In The World Does Category 2 Water Mean?

1/22/2022 (Permalink)

If pipe repairs are not done in a timely manner you could end up with a flooded Charlotte, NC, home or business. When SERVPRO of South Mecklenburg County comes out the first thing they will do is assess the type of water; Category 1, 2 or 3.

Category 1 is clean water that is drinkable from its source. To learn more about Category 1 water, check out our previous blog post. Category 3 water is highly contaminated. So, what is Category 2? Often times Category 2 water is referred to as "grey water". This is because Category 2 water contains some contaminants that may cause illness if swallowed.

To learn more about bacteria associated with flooding please review the CDC website https://www.irmi.com/articles/expert-commentary/category-3-water-exclusions.
