How We Dry Carpets After A Water Loss

2/8/2022 (Permalink)

Can carpets be dried after a water loss?

When water damages your Charlotte, NC, home, we know you want to get back to normal as quickly as possible. Disruptions to your life are the last thing you need, and that is why you call SERVPRO of South Mecklenburg County. We have the tools and skills to restore your home to preloss conditions and get you back to regular life. So how do we get rid of the water and restore your home?

When water enters your home, it is important to follow CDC recommended guidelines when reentering the affected area. Then, after assessing the damage, be sure to call SERVPRO of South Mecklenburg County to make it "Like it never even happened."

If your home has experienced water damage from a clean water source such as a cracked pipe, our team will start by extracting water from the carpet. It is never a good idea to wait for the carpet to dry naturally, even in the best-ventilated areas. Letting a carpet dry naturally could lead to long dry times, staining, and even mold and microbial growth.

Our technicians will use light wands and rovers (weighted extractors) that help us pull out as much moisture as possible. Instead of pulling up carpeting, we do whatever is possible to use in-place drying methods and protect your existing carpeting.

If you have experienced a category two or three water loss, the situation will have to be assessed before drying begins. Often with these types of water loss, all porous surfaces, including carpet, need to be removed and replaced due to potentially hazardous substances. When category two or three water enters your home, safety becomes the number one priority when determining whether an item can be remediated, or if it must be replaced.

If you have experienced a water loss and now have wet carpets, or anything else in your home was affected, call SERVPRO of South Mecklenburg County at (704) 840-6112 so we can get your home and carpets back to preloss conditions.
